The Dragon Ride in the Brecon Beacons is the headline Welsh sportive — 300 km of serious climbing for the Devil route, or more forgiving 150 km and 200 km options. BikePark Wales near Merthyr Tydfil remains the best-regarded UK trail centre.
Welsh gravel has exploded recently, with events across the Cambrian Mountains and Mid Wales offering some of the emptiest roads in the UK. The Trans Cambrian and the Gold Rush are bucket-list routes.
