These terms are a binding contract between you and CycleConnect. Please read them carefully before creating an account or using the site. If you do not agree, do not use CycleConnect.
1. Who we are
CycleConnect ("we", "us", "our", the "Platform") is a directory and community platform that lists cycling events, clubs, group rides, and holiday packages across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The Platform is operated by [SITE OWNER NAME / COMPANY NAME] of [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. You can contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
2. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, registering a club or company, posting a trip or event, applying to join a trip, or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of a club, company, or other organisation, you warrant that you have the authority to bind that organisation.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account without parental consent. Users aged 13–17 may only use the Platform with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on their behalf.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering.
- You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- We may refuse, suspend, or terminate any account at our discretion where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
4. The Platform's role — we are an intermediary, not an organiser
This is a critical section. Please read it.
CycleConnect is a platform that lists and facilitates introductions between riders, clubs, event organisers, and holiday operators. We do not organise, lead, guide, supervise, insure, or take part in any ride, event, trip, or holiday listed on the Platform.
- Clubs, events, trips, and packages are created and managed by third parties ("Organisers"), which includes individual users, club managers, and holiday companies. The contract for any ride, event, trip, or holiday is between you and that Organiser — not us.
- We do not verify the identity, skill, qualifications, insurance, or safety of any Organiser or other user unless we have explicitly awarded a "Verified" badge. A Verified badge indicates only that we have checked basic identity or company documents, and is not a guarantee of quality, safety, or competence.
- We do not vet routes, vehicles, equipment, weather conditions, third-party websites, or any other aspect of any ride, event, or holiday.
- Any payment or booking for a holiday package takes place directly between you and the operator, either on their own website or by agreement with them. We are not a party to any such transaction.
5. Assumption of risk — cycling is a dangerous activity
Cycling, including road cycling, gravel riding, mountain biking, sportives, time trials, racing, cyclo-cross, touring, and all related activities, involves inherent and significant risks. These include but are not limited to: collision with vehicles, pedestrians, animals, other cyclists, or fixed objects; falls; mechanical failure; weather and road conditions; exhaustion; serious injury; permanent disability; and death.
By using the Platform and by participating in any ride, event, trip, or activity you find through it, you knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with cycling and related activities, whether those risks are known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, and whether caused by the negligence of other users, Organisers, or third parties — to the fullest extent permitted by law.
You are solely responsible for:
- Your own physical fitness, health, and ability to complete any ride, event, or trip;
- The condition, suitability, and legal compliance of your bicycle, helmet, and all equipment;
- Compliance with the Highway Code and all applicable road traffic laws;
- Obtaining appropriate personal accident, medical, travel, and third-party liability insurance for your cycling activities. We strongly recommend that all users are members of a cycling body offering third-party liability cover, such as British Cycling, Cycling UK, or Cycling Ireland.
- Making your own risk assessment before joining any ride or trip, including the suitability of the Organiser, route, pace, distance, weather, and other participants.
6. Your content and conduct
You are solely responsible for any content you post on the Platform, including event listings, club descriptions, trip posts, messages, comments, images, and profile information ("User Content").
By posting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, and distribute it on and through the Platform, solely for the purpose of operating the Platform.
You agree not to post or use the Platform to share any content that:
- is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, obscene, or hateful;
- infringes any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
- is false, misleading, or deceptive, including fake events, fraudulent companies, or misrepresenting your identity;
- contains viruses, malware, or any other harmful code;
- solicits users for purposes unrelated to cycling or contrary to these Terms;
- promotes unsafe, illegal, or reckless cycling practices.
We reserve the right (but have no obligation) to remove any User Content at our discretion and to suspend or terminate accounts that breach this clause.
7. Responsibilities of Organisers
If you post a ride, event, trip, or holiday package on the Platform as an Organiser, you warrant that:
- You have the authority, capability, and where required the qualifications, insurance, and licences to run the activity described;
- All information you provide is accurate and not misleading;
- You will conduct the activity with reasonable care and skill, and in compliance with all applicable laws, including road traffic law, consumer protection law, and the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 where relevant;
- You will hold appropriate insurance, including public liability cover where reasonable for the activities you offer;
- You will deal with participants, enquiries, refunds, and complaints directly and professionally.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim, loss, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising out of or connected with your role as an Organiser, any activity you run, or any breach of these Terms.
8. Holiday operators and consumer rights
Where a holiday package is sold to you by a third-party company listed on the Platform, your statutory consumer rights (including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and, where applicable, the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018) are against that company and not against us. The listing of a company on the Platform does not constitute our endorsement, agency, or partnership with that company.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses; nor that any information, event listing, club, company, trip, or user is accurate, complete, qualified, safe, or suitable for your purposes.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Subject to the paragraph above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We will not be liable for any loss, injury, damage, illness, disability, or death arising from, connected with, or caused by any ride, event, trip, activity, meeting, training camp, or holiday listed on or organised via the Platform, whether caused by an Organiser, another user, a third party, or by the activity itself.
- We will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or loss of reputation.
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Platform will not exceed £100 (one hundred pounds sterling) or the total amount (if any) you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is the greater.
You acknowledge that this limitation is reasonable given that the Platform is provided free of charge and operates as an intermediary.
11. Release and covenant not to sue
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and discharge us, our directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, costs, and expenses (including legal costs) of any kind, whether known or unknown, arising out of or connected with any ride, event, trip, holiday, activity, meeting, or other interaction you arrange, attend, or participate in through the Platform. You agree not to bring any claim against us in respect of any such matter, and acknowledge that your recourse, if any, is against the Organiser or other party directly responsible.
This release does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under English law, as set out in clause 10.
12. Intellectual property
The Platform, including its software, design, branding, and all content we provide (excluding User Content), is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by UK and international intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, adapt, reverse-engineer, or redistribute any part of the Platform without our written permission.
13. Third-party links and services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites and services (for example, maps, external booking pages, or social-media pages). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, misused the Platform, or behaved in a way that may cause harm to us or to other users. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including liability, release, and governing law) will survive.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email or through a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or connected with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
