Cycling events in the South West of England
Dartmoor, Exmoor, and the Cornish coast. Hardest climbs in England, and some of the best.
The South West has the UK's hardest road climbs outside Wales and Scotland. Dartmoor and Exmoor throw 20%+ gradients at you every few miles. The Tour of Wessex is a punishing three-day stage race over the May bank holiday. The Dartmoor Classic sportive puts 106 miles of pure hill into a single Sunday.
Cornish cycling is dominated by the north-coast climbs (Porthtowan, St Agnes, Chapel Porth) and the coast-to-coast routes. Somerset and the Cotswolds offer gentler rolling terrain; Dorset has the Jurassic Coast and the Purbeck Hills.
